Immigrant applicants to the United States are required to complete a medical exam. The medical exam ensures that the applicant is not inadmissible because of health related grounds. The examination includes checks on past medical history, a physical examination, tuberculin test, laboratory test, and an immunization assessment. Additional test for syphilis is required for applicants over the age of 14. They will check medical records to see if your Thai wife had ever attempted suicide or has shown to be prone to violent behavior. If so she would have to obtain a letter of her mental condition and the prognosis from a doctor for her past or present condition. Applicants can seek a waiver of the vaccination requirement for moral or religious beliefs.
For immigrant applicants in Thailand, the applicant will have to bring their passport, three photographs (1 x1 ½ inch), and medical examination form (I-693) to one of the following recommended hospitals.
